Four days before DEMA Show 2026 opens, the industry is preparing for commercial and technical meetings in New Orleans. For Latin American operators, the useful question is not which product looks newest but which solutions can improve safety, profitability and customer service.

What is confirmed about the event
DEMA Show is scheduled for November 3–6, 2026, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. Organizers advertise more than 500 exhibitors alongside commercial displays, business meetings and educational activities. As of October 30 these are official plans and forecasts, not final attendance figures.
This is a trade-only event, not a consumer retail fair. The breadth of the exhibition does not mean that every new offering will suit every destination. Its usefulness depends on each operator’s costs, technical requirements and customers.

Equipment: examine lifetime cost, not just specifications
Operators typically compare regulators, buoyancy systems, dive computers, cylinders, lighting and service components. The purchase price, however, does not explain the full cost of equipment that will be used every day by customers.
Spare-parts availability, regional technical support, compatibility, servicing intervals, required training and delivery times deserve examination. An apparently inexpensive purchase can become costly when repairs require cross-border shipping or take inventory out of service for weeks. Demonstrations should be followed by verifiable technical and commercial questions.
| Purchase criterion | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Technical service | Regional availability |
| Spare parts | Lead time and cost |
| Compatibility | Existing inventory |
| Maintenance | Frequency and staff training |
Training matters as much as products
The official program includes professional training, business and operational subjects, as well as specialized cylinder-inspection activities. Some courses begin on Monday, November 2, before the exhibition opens; dates should be checked for each session.
A course offered during the show may be useful, but attendance does not automatically create a qualification recognized in every country. Prerequisites, scope, validity and regulatory recognition must be reviewed individually. For Latin America, access to Spanish- and Portuguese-language materials and support also affects later implementation.
The product showcase adds an attendee vote
Organizers are preparing Product Showcase areas across the floor where exhibitors can present products and services. A new 2026 Attendees’ Choice Award has been announced, with the winner scheduled to be named on Friday, November 6, at 1 p.m. at DEMA Central.
The award reflects the preferences of those who vote; it is not a certification of performance, safety or technical superiority. A highly visible product may not be the best option for a particular operation. Operators should compare operational evidence, warranties, after-sales support and maintenance costs before committing budgets.

For Latin America, logistics matters
An international commercial agreement is of limited use if import taxes, shipping, distribution, technical support and currency exposure have not been considered. Equipment marketing and use may also be subject to different national regulations.
Centers operating in remote areas particularly need to assess whether equipment can be repaired without stopping operations. Distributor proximity, staff training and consumable availability may influence profitability more than an additional feature demonstrated at the show.
Business and travel: opportunities beyond equipment
The show brings together destination marketing, specialist travel, training and business services. For a Latin American center, relationships with group organizers and outbound operators may prove more relevant than new equipment purchases.
It helps to arrive with evidence of actual capacity, seasons, safety procedures, cancellation policies and pricing. Sustainable commercial relationships require clear expectations and measured results. There is no basis for promising an automatic rise in bookings simply from attending the event.
A test for separating opportunity from novelty
Before committing to a purchase or partnership, an operator should be able to state which problem it solves, the total cost, the resources needed for implementation and the indicator used to check results. It should also identify conditions under which it would decide not to buy.
DEMA Show will provide a view of what numerous suppliers are presenting for 2026. Its value for Latin America lies in adapting that information to local markets rather than copying what works elsewhere without evaluation. The show opens on November 3; its actual results must be analyzed afterward.
